Investigations
This part of my digital portfolio will highlight some of the activities or investigations that we do in our math/ physics class.
"Lights Out" Challenge
In this challenge we had to make a flashlight and my group failed. I think we lacked group communication. I think if we put all our ideas together we could have made it happen. Anyway the point is that we were given Foil, two batteries, three or four paperclips, a nickel and other materials. our first attempt we short circuited it and after that the batteries were kind of weird. the second attempt, we got it lit, but it got to hot to hold and so re-built it. The third attempt we had already killed the batteries. So now at least I know that next time wrap it in something so it won't be hot.
Barbie Bungee Lab
This lab is my favorite. In our groups we to find out how many rubber bands it would take for our barbie to have a safe jump for the distance of the fall. First we had to measure how far barbie would fall for a certain amount of fall. So after we caculated everything, we came up with 31 rubberbands. When the previous group went they also had 31 rubber bands, so when the barbie fell, it didn't come close to the ground, so we thought for sure we were going to lose. When our barbie dropped, it fell about two inches off the ground. Our team won, closes to the ground, but I felt like the other team won too because we had the same amount.

Conducters and Insulators
In this lab we were learning what objects/items were either a conductor or insulator. We got to test them out with a light bulb and battery, if the light went on then it was a conductor, which is an item that is able to conduct energy. And if the light didn't go on then the item was a insulator, which is an item in which energy is unable to flow through. We also did a computer simulation just like the lab, we test out different objects in a circuit and if the circuit is complete then it is a conductor and if its broken its a insulator. We came in contact with conductors like paper clips, penny's, lead, and other types of material-like metal. We came in contact with insulators like eraser, wood, plastic toy pig, and any other non-metal object.
