I can honestly say, I enjoyed this project. I loved being able to recycle items from my kitchen in order to improve my soil for the plants. Although it didn't seem to improve plant growth, the compost did improve the soil. Both Pepper plant A and B are healthy and now that the year is ended I have decided to use the compost for all of my plants. Below is the final Experiment data sheet Things I would have did differently. Well I liked how I I made this data sheet just so I could keep track of the watering. But what I noticed about half way through, that I didn't specify what "lightly watering" was and normal watering. I just sprayed the plants when lightly watering and sprinkled water when regular watering; so it wasn't consistent. So next time if I wanted to do an experiment similar thats what I would do differently. I also wanted to take more pictures. Exhibition is tomorrow! I'm so excited to show my peers, family and incoming families see my work. Below you will see our trifold with all of it's information and pictures. The trifold is very similar to the pamphlet but it goes more into depth. The other picture has our three terrariums on display. When exhibition is done, one terrarium will go to Will, one to Nikki and one to either me or Deanna. We have already gotten lots of compliments on how great our setup looks. I am confident our display will be very popular tomorrow night!
Deanna actually had the idea of making the containers out of recycled wood. We originally wanted to just find random objects that could hold a plant. But there was scraps of wood laying around that was perfect for us. So with that wood, a wood cutter and wood glue , we got these great quality boxes. Our goal was to have everything be recycled from previous projects. So the wood was recycled, the plants were recycled, and the dirt and pebbles were extras from Deanna's previous project.
We wanted to do something hand written, however Deanna found out how to do it online and it looked pretty neat. We want it to be helpful to our audience, so they know how to take care of a terrarium. Deanna and I also talked about how we are going to display our hard work with the terrariums. We finally decided on a trifold. I'm planning on purchasing the materials this week so we can start working on it next week. We want to display an actual terrarium at exhibition so we need to find out where our materials are going to come from.
