I have grown appreciation for the work my colleagues do, because they have to come back and do it all over again this Monday. Their work is important to them because they have families to support, rent to pay. But most of all they have found work that they are passionate about. Work that does not feel like work. And that is something I hope to find one day. I saw a lot of communication and professionalism skills in my collegues. I have learned to act more professional with people I work with. It is very different than working with students in group work. My view has shifted just because I crave the passion my colleagues possess.
New questions that begin to form in my head about PBL are: How can we change the way our students receive information in class? How can we make learning more meaningful to students? How can we make tours more accessible to educators around the world? I mostly have been thinking about how we can improve the visits for our visitors. That is something we all think about, because we deal more with outreach. Externship has confirmed my career path. While learning about communication and collaboration, I learned that team work is very important in the workplace. I think the Ambassador badge has represented my project and why I did my project. I did it to help future ambassadors. I also think this represents my future at UC Berkeley. Because Cheyenne is going to Berkeley too. And I probably will meet lots of new people just I had as an ambassador.

I worked on an ambassadors handbook. I think I was successful in collecting information as well as meeting new people and creating connections. I believe I made a meaningful contribution to my workplace because I was always there to help my colleagues. When I worked with someone new, I got to learn so much from their perspective. This experience was meaningful because I want to work in a career where I have to be able to communicate with visitors or clients. I learned so much about working with others as a professional. This externship has been confirmation for my future career. We thought the handbook would be an amazing idea for incoming ambassadors. Once I put together all of the missing information and it became an actual handbook, it started to become an actual product. I have learned that I work pretty fast. I thought it was going to take longer to collect information. But it was just a matter of going out of the workplace to get what I needed. |
