In engineering class we read an article called Singularity. It was about how in the future, how advanced life is going to be. The most disturbing prediction was how there is going to be less jobs and some new ones. It said 60-70% of jobs are going to disappear. I can't believe so many jobs will go away because there will be new technology. I was happy at the fact, less cars will be used because there will be uber and other car companies; there will be less pollution.
Thursday, we had a lot of job interviews going on every 5 minutes. I think that the job fair/interview process was authentic because we learned there is competition and how everything is fast paced. And to know not everyone is going to hired us, we got turned down most of the time. Even some people got hired for being friends or having personal connections; this happens in the real world. I think it could have been improved by having an application process or longer interviews. I learned that I am good at interviews and negotiating. I have also learned that you have to wiggle your way through and sometimes sabotage other competitors; in the real world you have to play the game. In humanities we learned about how advertising manipulates the consumer to buy it's products. Advertising uses weasel words to say something that we interpret in a different way. Products that say words like, "Help". These words sound like the product does something without them actually doing anything. It's the way the consumer interprets the message. I think there should be stricter regulations on ads directed towards children. They are too young to uncover the lies of ads. There should be regulations against weasel words and some children ads.
